Provinciehuis Zuid-Holland (Province Hall of Zuid-Holland) in The Hague, Netherlands

The building on the corner of Zuidhollandlaan and Koningskade streets in The Hague housed the headquarters of the provincial government of South Holland. At this place, but a little farther into from the street, in the 60s of last century, was built the original building of Province of Zuid-Holland. The construction of the building began in 1961 under the project by the famous Dutch architect Frits (Fredericus Petrus Josephus) Peutz and was opened in 1963. Ten-storey building with a height of almost 35 meters perform their functions more than 30 years, but in 1995 was destroyed because of the overall reconstruction of region. From 1995 to 1998, parts of Provinciehuis was demolished and in their place were built new building in modern design.

In 1998, the new building of the administration of South Holland was opened. The desing was by the architectural firm Kohn Pedersen Fox (KPF) Associates. American company KPF was selected as the winner of an international competition with 25 participants. At this time, the innovative concept by KPF was led to the creation of the most environmentally building in the Netherlands of high energy efficient of the consumption parameters, operation and maintenance. The new building in the Modernism architectural style of Provinciehuis Zuid-Holland has a total area of 24,000 m. sq. Six-story building with boldly curved wave-shape "softens" and harmonize the space on this point in The Hague with intensive transport traffic. Located just ten minutes walk from the central station and the center of The Hague, with its smooth and elegant lines the Provinciehuis Zuid-Holland has become emblematic for the region around Malieveld Park. Inside, into the space between the buildings, is a pleasant courtyard, accessible from the street.

The functional interior spaces are designed for working halls of the Provinciehuis Zuid-Holland's administration. In the building are many boardrooms for meetings, conferences and workshops related to the management of current activities and key sectors for the development of South Netherlands.
