Materials: hard-paste porcelain, underglaze blue

Batavia (present-day Jakarta) was the headquarters of the Dutch East India Company in Indonesia. Houses were built in a Dutch style, for which these objects were sometimes hipped from the Netherrlands to Batavia.  However, they could also be ordered more locally, in China. These Chinese objects closely follow Dutch examples.
