Author: Hyacinthe Francois Honorat Rigaud (Perpignan, 1659 – Paris, 1743)

Hyacinthe Francois Honorat Rigaud is known for his portraits of famous historical figures - kings, princes, duchesses, ministers, bankers, wealthy businessmen from 17th-18th century. Rigaud was a master of the lavish costumes and of the spectacular poses of the royals whose portraits he was made. He was the personal portraitist of the Bourbons. His most famous painting is the portrait of Louis XIVth.
