Business Profile of VEDA:
Varna Economic Development Agency (VEDA) is Non-governmental organization and was established in 1997 under the joint program of Varna Municipality and USAID (U.S. Agency for International Development to promote regional economic development) to assist the advancement of regional economic development.

Since 1998 VEDA is a:
Member of the network of the Bulgarian Association of Regional Development Agencies and Business Centers(BARDA).

Member of the Public Council for the rehabilitation and social integration of people with disabilities and Youth Forum of Varna Municipality.

Informal National contact center to the Programme for Eco-innovation at the European Commission.

Participation in two mandate of the group for the policies to businesses - Business Chamber for DG "Enterprise and Industry" of the European Commission (2007-2012).

VEDA is currently working on a two major Projects:

Project BUILD SEE - Meet the gap between EU guidelines and their practical implementation in green construction, environmental and social renovation of residential areas in South East Europe.
Project SEE/D/0320/4.1/X BUILD SEE -"Addressing the divide between EU indications and their practical implementation in the green construction and eco-social re-qualification of residential areas in South East Europe regions"

The project promotes an area of intervention, able simultaneously to respond to the existing problems and challenges via an urban/neighborhood planning regeneration in which joint action by public and private sectors will develop environmental, economic and social benefits. The project has the overall objective to set up toolkits and actions to develop a "green building management model" of city, area and suburb, for supporting sustainable urban new constructions and requalification, and for creating a new method of citizenships involvement and participation and a network of stakeholders, collaborating together with local government.

Lead Project Partner is Foundation “Alma Mater" in Bologna, Italy.

The project duration is from 25.01.2013 until 31.12.2014. It is funded under the SEE Transnational Cooperation Program, co-financed by the ERDF (85%) and IPA funds. Bulgarian co-financing (15%) is provided from the state budget via the Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works.


Project APP4INNO - Creation and promotion of new approaches and tools to enhance the competitiveness and innovation of the primary sector in South East Europe.
Lead partner: Veneto Agriculture, Italy - Regional Agency for Agriculture, Forestry and Agri-food sectors from Italy.
