Brief presentation of VEDA:
Varna Economic Development Agency (VEDA) is Non-governmental organization and was established in 1997 under the joint program of Varna Municipality and USAID (U.S. Agency for International Development to promote regional economic development) to assist the advancement of regional economic development.

Since 1998 VEDA is a:
Member of the network of the Bulgarian Association of Regional Development Agencies and Business Centers (BARDA).

Member of the Public Council for the rehabilitation and social integration of people with disabilities and Youth Forum of Varna Municipality.

Informal National contact center to the Programme for Eco-innovation at the European Commission.

Participation in two mandate of the group for the policies to businesses - Business Chamber for DG "Enterprise and Industry" of the European Commission (2007-2012).

Development of Eco-Innovation Profile of Bulgaria 2011 with an update in 2012 to the Eco-Innovation Observatory:

Main Activities of VEDA:
Information support for SMEs.
Training programs, seminars, business meetings and presentations of companies and products.
Consulting services in the area of strategic and business planning, preparation of marketing plans, business management, start-ups, quality management, human resource management, proposal writing, project management, information technology, and web-design.
Info for business delegations to international fairs and forums.
Contacts with foreign partners.
Specialized assistance and contacts with local authorities and businesses upon investor interest.
Active promotion of Varna and the Region before potential foreign investors.
Maintaining and providing of a database of Bulgarian and foreign companies, embassies, and NGOs, the media and local authorities.

VEDA holds certifications for:
providing social services - Certificate № 4240/29.04.2009 of ASA MLSP

for the public benefit - Certificate № 20020611019 in the Central Register of Legal Entities profit to MJ - Sofia

for business support organizations, matching the standard Business Advice and Support International Standard (BASIS)

VEDA develops two major projects:

Project BUILD SEE - "Bridging the gap between the EU guidelines and their practical application in green construction, environmental and social renewal of the residential areas in South East Europe".
The project encourages area of ​​intervention that can simultaneously meet the existing problems and challenges by planning for renewal of the city and the neighborhoods in which joint action of public and private sector will allow the development of environmental, economic and social benefits.

Project duration 25.01.2013 - 31.12.2014. It was financed by the ERDF Operational Programme "South East Europe" (85%) and MRDPW (15%). The project includes 18 regular and associate partners from Bulgaria, Romania, Greece, Italy, Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Hungary and Albania. In partnership involving municipalities, agencies and sustainable regional development centers for research on environment, energy and innovation centers, business support and other public organizations.      

The leading organization is the "Alma Mater" -  Bologna, Italy.

Project APP4INNO - Creation and promotion of new approaches and tools to enhance the competitiveness and innovation of the primary sector in Southeast Europe. APP4INNO has started on 1st of October, 2012 with the financial support of the South East Transnational Cooperation Program. The Action is under the program’s priority axis “Facilitation of innovation and entrepreneurship”, area of intervention “Develop the enabling environment for innovative entrepreneurship.

Lead: Veneto Agriculture, Italy - Regional Agency for Agriculture, Forestry and Agri-food sectors from Italy.
Project APP4INNO - opportunities for SMEs
Participation in Transnational Platform FP4.
