Description: The Gymnasium Erasmianum is a school in Rotterdam and was founded in 1328. The Gymnasium is the second oldest school in the Netherlands after School of sport, "Johan de Witt" in Dortreht, established in 1253. The Gumnasium Erasmianum is almost 7 centuries old and is one of the most prestigious schools in Europe providing secondary education at the highest level!
The Gymnasium Erasmianum was established as a Latin school in Rotterdam before Rotterdam to obtain full rights of city nearly twenty years before. It was renamed in 1842 after the famous scientist, theologian and humanist Desiderius Erasmus of Rotterdam (1466-1536) and is more than a century older than his namesake.
