Description: The building of the Netherlands Parliament (States-General) and the Fountain in the courtyard of the Binnenhof.
On March 29, 2014 the Netherlands celebrates (Grondwet Festival) the 200th anniversary of the Constitution. The Constitution of the Kingdom of the Netherlands was established in 1814. Then it was complemented and developed, and now the current Constitution dates from 1983. The premises in which are collected the States-General are located in the Binnenhof, The Hague.
The States General (Bicameral Parliament) consists of two Chambers - the Second Chamber (Tweede Kamer), which is directly elected every four years by proportional representation and the First Chamber (Eerste Kamer), which is indirectly elected by the Provincial States again every four years, immediately after the elections for provincial councils.
