Description: The collaboration ATLAS Experiment. A part of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is the most powerful accelerator for now.
The greatest discovery made by the Hadron Collider, is the Higgs boson. With this discovery, scientists believe that is filled the Standard Model of particle physics.
On 02/14/2013 the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) stopped working for repairs due to problems between huge magnets that guide the charged particles on the 27-km ring. During the repair will be improved and four detectors, other systems and components of the vast facility. Experiments are planned to resume in February or March 2015.
Repair program provides capacity building to reach the accelerator energy up to 14 TeV. By now, held in accelerator experiments is reached values up to 8 TeV, which is only about half of its projected capacity.
