MACHINE TO REPRODUCE THE POLAR AURORA
Glass, brass, wood, iron, cast De la Rive, Geneva, around 1860
Continuing his research on the polar aurora, De la Rive to conceive around 1860 "device intended to reproduce in laboratory the appearance of the aurora borealis and australis."
This is actually an enhanced version of its first electric "egg". The device presents itself in the form of a large wooden sphere representing the Earth, with two sleeves are made of glass surrounding an iron rod at its poles.
